NextGen Healthcare Selected as VHIT EHR Affiliate Vendor

EHR Company Selected Following In-Depth Review Process

Virginia HIT (VHIT), the federally designated health IT Regional Extension Center (REC) for Virginia, in partnership with the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT), today announced that NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc. has been selected as an electronic health record (EHR) Affiliate Vendor. After a thorough vetting process, CIT selected NextGen Healthcare to offer services to primary care providers in the Commonwealth.

“With so many EHR vendors on the market, selecting a system and reaching meaningful use can be challenging for busy providers,” said VHQC President & CEO Donald A. Glozer, MHA, FACHE. “CIT has selected a properly vetted group of vendors who can provide physicians with the quality support they need to make the successful transition to an EHR, achieve meaningful use, and qualify for their EHR incentives.”

This spring, CIT issued a public invitation to EHR companies to complete an application process for selection as a VHIT Affiliate Vendor. Criteria included financial stability and the availability of an ONC-certified product with a meaningful use guarantee. Each of the selected companies, including NextGen Healthcare, met all of these requirements. Designation as a VHIT Affiliate Vendor indicates that the vendor shares VHIT’s commitment to helping physicians attain EHR meaningful use so they can qualify for Medicare or Medicaid EHR incentives.

VHIT is a program of VHQC, a nonprofit healthcare consulting company that also serves as Virginia’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization. VHIT works with providers on any EHR system.

“Providers using NextGen Ambulatory EHR and NextGen Inpatient Solutions have earned more than $22 million in meaningful use incentives already,” said Keegan Bailey, NextGen Healthcare’s Associate Director, State Engagement/Grants Resource Center. “The Regional Extension Centers play a critical role in supporting providers and we are thrilled to partner with VHIT and CIT in this effort. We look forward to sharing our educational, outreach and technical resources with additional RECs across the country as they help providers become meaningful users.”
