To participate in the Virginia Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, providers must complete a two-step registration process.
- Registration with CMS: Please visit the CMS website to register. Before you register, have your National Provider Identification (NPI) number on hand. Upon successful registration, you will receive a CMS registration number. Keep it handy because this number will be required to enroll at the state level. Please note: While the CMS site does allow proxy registration, proxy enrollment will not be allowed in the Virginia Medicaid EHR Incentive system. Please do not use a proxy when you register at the CMS site; each eligible provider must register individually for themselves.
- Enrollment in the Virginia Medicaid EHR Incentive Program: Approximately two days after registering at the CMS site, you will receive an email indicating that you can enroll through the Virginia Medicaid EHR Incentive Program portal. During enrollment, you will need to provide your NPI, CMS registration number, details about your practice and numbers of Medicaid patients and encounters.
